OKNO – Background Sound Recorder records audio from a Chrome tab only after the user explicitly presses Record or invokes the assigned recording shortcut.

Data processed

To provide its recording function, OKNO processes:

• audio output from the tab selected by the user;
• that tab’s title, URL and tab identifier;
• recording settings and temporary session status;
• the resulting MP3 file and locally generated filename.

How data is used

Tab audio is used solely to create the recording requested by the user. The tab title and URL are used locally to identify the recording source, display the active session and optionally generate a filename.

Local processing and storage

All audio capture, analysis and MP3 encoding happen locally within Chrome on the user’s device. Session details and preferences are stored locally using Chrome extension storage. Completed MP3 files are saved through Chrome’s normal Downloads system.

Data sharing and transmission

OKNO does not transmit recordings, tab information, settings or usage information to the developer or any third party. It contains no analytics, advertising, tracking, cloud processing, remote API or account system. No user data is sold or shared.

Retention and deletion

Temporary audio and encoder data are released after recording finalisation or failure. Downloaded MP3 files remain under the user’s control until deleted. Extension settings and the latest session status remain in Chrome’s local extension storage and can be removed by uninstalling OKNO or clearing its stored data.

Permissions

OKNO uses only the Chrome permissions required for tab-audio capture, background processing, local settings, downloads and optional completion notifications. It does not request access to all websites and does not inject scripts into web pages.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

OKNO’s use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Such information is used only to provide and improve the extension’s user-facing tab-audio recording functionality.
